Privacy policy

Inspired Selection Kft. privacy policy for personal data processed on www.budapestplay.hu in connection with the BUDAPEST PLAY street music festival and contest (the “Contest”).

Introduction

Inspired Selection Kft. (the “Company”, “Controller”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This notice explains what we process, why, for how long, with whom we share it, and what rights you have.

Processing complies with applicable law, in particular the GDPR and Hungarian data protection legislation.

Operator

The technical and operational delivery of the Contest is carried out by Inspired Selection Kft. using the same contact details as the controller.

What processing takes place?

Performer registration

Via the registration form we process:

  • last name, first name;

  • production / stage name;

  • e-mail address;

  • phone number;

  • biography;

  • portrait photo;

  • YouTube video link;

  • optional social media or website link;

  • optional consent to be contacted about similar future events;

  • submission timestamp and submitted data;

  • if enabled: technical data processed by Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection.

Purpose: receiving applications, pre-selection, communication, administration, scheduling selected performers.
Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)); separate consent for future event communications.
Retention: until 31 August 2028 at the latest after the season ends, except winners/placed performers and marketing consent (see below).

Public voting

During the festival via on-site QR codes:

  • time of vote;

  • performer identifier;

  • technical identifiers to prevent abuse (e.g. bp_voter cookie, hashed IP address, browser/device data).

Purpose: running public voting and preventing fraud.
Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); legitimate interest in abuse prevention (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Retention: technical logs for up to 12 months.

Prize draw

After voting, on an optional basis:

  • name;

  • e-mail address;

  • technical identifiers linked to the vote.

Purpose: running the prize draw and notifying winners.
Legal basis: consent; performance of prize draw terms (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Retention: up to 1 year after the draw and prize handover; winners’ data up to 31 August 2030 where required by law.

Public performer profile

Selected performers’ data (name, production name, portrait, biography, links, performance info) may be published on the website.

Purpose: presenting the Contest and performers.
Legal basis: consent; publication necessary to run the Contest.
Retention: for the Contest period and published archive period on the website.

Administrator notification

When a new application is submitted, organiser administrators receive an e-mail with the application details.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in administering the Contest (Art. 6(1)(f)).

General conditions

Only persons aged 18 or over may give their own consent as performers. Required registration data is a precondition for participation; failure to provide it or a deletion request before prize handover may lead to disqualification.

Winners’ and placed performers’ names may be published on the Contest website until 31 August 2026 at the latest. Additional data (e.g. address) may be recorded from identity documents for prize handover and tax obligations.

Contest personal data is deleted by 31 August 2028 at the latest, except winners/placed performers and those who gave marketing consent – in the latter case until consent is withdrawn or 31 August 2028 at the latest.

You may object to processing and withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based.

Sharing personal data

We share data only as necessary to run the Contest with:

  • our partner: Municipality of Budapest;

  • contracted processors (see below);

  • authorities where required by law.

Transfers outside the EEA take place only with appropriate safeguards or your consent.

Processors

  • Hetzner Online GmbH – hosting: website, application, database, backups. Privacy policy

  • Hostinger International Ltd. – e-mail delivery: registration confirmation, admin notifications. Privacy policy

  • Cloudflare, Inc. – Turnstile bot protection on registration (when active). Privacy policy

Security

Data is processed in computer systems with access controls, firewall and malware protection. Only authorised staff may access data for their duties. We will notify you of incidents posing a high risk to your rights under GDPR Arts. 33–34.

Incoming e-mails are retained with sender details for up to five years.

Cookies

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. Necessary cookies:

  • Laravel session (budapestplay-session);

  • CSRF token (XSRF-TOKEN);

  • voter identifier (bp_voter);

  • Cloudflare Turnstile cookies (when registering, if active).

YouTube links submitted in registration and any embedded YouTube content are governed by Google/YouTube policies.

Social media

We only use publicly shared data on these platforms to respond to you; we do not import it into our website database.

Your rights

You may request information, access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, object to processing, and withdraw consent.

Submit requests using the contact details above. We respond within one month.

You may lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH): www.naih.hu, ugyfelszolgalat@naih.hu.

You may also seek judicial remedy.

Changes

We may update this notice. Material changes will be published on the website.
